All the Stars Are Coming Out Tonight for You!
So something has snuck up on me, besides my flippin' computer screen wrinkles and thesis malaise: my 100th post! My last post was, in fact, my 100th. I didn't celebrate it and certainly none of you noticed it, which leaves me feeling like a 65 year old who has quietly and thanklessly looked after all her kids as well as the neighbourhood's while working full-time at the literacy centre of a local school.
In today's society, there's only one way to remedy this injustice and that is by renovating my College accommodation for a home makeover TV show. Imagine me in slow motion getting off my bike (after a day by the river that you set up and embarrassed that I have helmet head) to Take That's We Can Rule the World in front of my new home surrounded by a bunch of salivating people I have barely met. Now, indulge me (and provide me with some sense of this momentous achievement), and let me know how you would decorate a part of my house with a maximum budget of £250. I want it themed, kitch and within budget. Thanks (and tears) in advance.

What room are we focusing on? Because I have some ideas...
It's my whole house! Ok, that means a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and study/family/dining room in one.
ooo I love a good home renovation challenge. I'm presuming you can't paint....
You can totally change a look with these simple things
1. Curtains
2. Cushions
3. Storage - remove clutter - use baskets, boxes etc.
4. Light Shades
5. Colour sort your books (AKA Annabel)
It's a hard task for £250 but places like Primark do great cushions etc. for very cheap, ebay is great for some items, and Dunelm is a good bet for pretty much everything:

Also salvage yards are great - get a great big mirror and distress it, or buy slate roof tiles for pennies and use them as coasters and place mats (for fun give ppl chalk to draw on them, or write menus if you have a dinner party)
Also - you have a balcony - get some rosmary and herbs in big pots - would smell amazing!
KT, you're adorable. I was being completely ironic. Geez that says something about me. I was thinking more along the lines of those terrible (low budget) shows where they turn someone's fairly bland but otherwise workable living space into the Titanic - with violinists stencilled onto the window and a large icebeg jutting out from above the bed. I want you to come up with some terrible (but great) ideas like that to celebrate my 100th post.
But having another quick look through your tips now and I think I will use them - or at least add them to the 'post thesis' list (alongside being less sarcastic/ironic). Ta. x

I'm installing a jacuzzi on the roof (at this budget, more like a paddle pool), with a hose and slippery dip coming off it and a foam pit in the landing drive. Covering all walls in a fresco inspired by Herge's 'Destination Moon'. There will be voice recognition of all quality jokes and musings for ready transmission into web posts. The study/family/dining room will be converted into a rock-climbing facility, with an enormous mattress covering the floor. If budgeting allows, there's a jungle in the bathroom. You probably wanted something nice, but fun is the word ;)

My contribution would be a dimly lit den, with shag pile carpet, lizard lounge, faux Warhol's and Barry White's greatest hits on a continuous loop. Yeah baby...
