I'll give you style if you give me chocolate

Last night, my (English) boyfriend finally agreed after many attempts that Australian Cadbury's chocolate is better than English Cadbury's. By better I mean more full, rich and soft, and less brittle, buttery and bland. Being the fair-minded person I am, I told him I would concede something on behalf of Team Australia. I admitted that English women (or a particular group of English women) tend to have a better sense of dress than Aussie women. Wouldn't you agree? No matter how hard we try, we cannot pull off the shabby chic look in quite the same way as a Brit and it's not just the darker tan and whiter teeth that dimish our efforts (tee hee!). I pointed out that I was being especially magnanimous as he is not chocolate.

I have been in the Radcliffe Camera today revising my thesis outline. I was somewhat distracted by the dusty sun beams coming through the window overlooking St Mary's Church. But I did fairly well. I had figured it was time to check that my chapters were working for the same boss.

Ok, I'm starrifying you for working on your thesis outline *first thing on the weekend.* That is great.

Loved the pics. I can never get my scarves to work that way...sort of effortlessly chic and draped just so. Mine always look either too formal or completely whack.

I travel to the U.K. a couple of times a year now to meet with my supervisor, and my fashion has improved because of my notetaking about how the British women wear their scarves and their black boots.

And I envy your thesis locale! I'm here in small town California with nary a research library in sight. Makes it tough.

The second picture is clearly of a transvestite with poor colour coordination. I am not sure how this benefits your argument.

Just wanted to return your very kind words: your blog is wonderful, too! Hope you're having a good week. :)

Australian Cadbury's is better than English?! What?! I've always argued the opposite. We get a chemically watered down version of the real deal due to our hot climate. They put different stuff in the chocolate to stop it melting. I find the English version much richer and creamier.

I'll agree about the fashion though :)

Thanks for your comments ladies (and man-child).

Al-ice! Really? I am going to bring home a slab of the UK version and a select cttee (including us, of course) can do a blind taste-off. It's the only way forward.

I'm sorry but discussing Cadbury's chocolate....what's going on here? I with Alice on this one. Get a good 70% dark chocolate and savour it. With coffee or red wine, it's fantastic. And you only need a bit, not the whole bar! Fat, carbohydrates, protein, chocolate--it's one of the essential food groups. Can't think why it gets such a bad press....

Jud, you come home to visit and I'll do whatever you want :) xx

Gotta agree with Mr. Flood though, proper chocolate is just heavenly.
