Careers Advice

Now that you're finishing your time here at Oxford, you can either head off to Cambridge for some further studies, The Hague or Geneva to work for an international court or organisation, and then there's the States for a postdoc or policy work. Otherwise you might like to quickly get yourself to Africa or India to join or start up an NGO. Yes, that's pretty much it. Take a leaflet before you go.

So I take it no-one opts to go barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen?

What about going on Britain's Got Talent? That seems a viable option...

An Oxford PhD student barefoot and pregnant baking a lamb casserole on Britain's Got Talent...a guaranteed winner!

Question: What do you want to do? Sub-question (of course): How do you intend to getting to it?

Answer: Finish the thesis; devise a research plan for the next 5 years; keep looking and be prepared to take what looks good if it crops up.

Sub-answer (of course): And you can get pregnant, go barefoot, bellydance and sing on BGT as well. After all what do you do between 1am and 5am? Most probably just sleep. Seize the time!
